  8. The following  points  will help you make full and effective 
  9. use of your LOGiSTiX program on the AMIGA. Please help us to 
  10. help  you by spending  a few moments  reading  these  useful 
  11. points. 
  12.  
  13. -  IMPORTANT:        AMIGADOS VERSION 1.1
  14.    
  15.    Version  1.1 of AmigaDOS  has a bug which can cause  some 
  16.    very  unpleasant  problems  when  LOGiSTiX  runs  out  of 
  17.    memory.  We suggest you exercise care when using LOGiSTiX 
  18.    near the full memory capacity of the AMIGA, as certain of 
  19.    the memory  handling  functions  have unpredictable  side 
  20.    effects.   In particular  we suggest  you save your  work 
  21.    regularily  so that  you  know  your  data  is constantly 
  22.    secure.  This is important  if you intend using graphics, 
  23.    as some graphs can be very memory hungry.
  24.    Because of this bug the example file CASHFLOW.LGX  should 
  25.    ONLY to be used with systems  having 1M byte of memory or 
  26.    more. It will not work with a 512K byte AMIGA (in fact it 
  27.    will crash the system.   Similarly,  the GRAPHS.LGX  file 
  28.    will  not  work  when  LOGiSTiX  has  been  run from  the 
  29.    WorkBench.  It will, however, work when run from the CLI. 
  30.    Also when drawing  graphs,  please  note that if you drag 
  31.    and/or size the graph window, this will effect the amount 
  32.    of memory required.  In particular if you size the window 
  33.    larger, you may find it will not accept your request, but 
  34.    instead  it will draw the graph  using  the same position 
  35.    and  size.  The  reason  is  that  there  is  not  enough 
  36.    contiguous  memory for the larger graphics screen, and so 
  37.    it  draws  it using  the  old  window  location,  without 
  38.    issuing the INSUFFICIENT MEMORY message. 
  39.    There  is another  bug in version  1.1 of AmigaDOS  which 
  40.    under certain  conditions  will "hang" the AMIGA when any 
  41.    of  /Utilities  Directory,  Rename,  Erase  or  Copy  are 
  42.    selected  when running LOGiSTiX from the CLI.  We suggest 
  43.    you save any work before trying out these options.

  45.    All the above problems are solved by using version 1.2 of 
  46.    AmigaDOS. 
  47.  
  48. -  When using a single drive AMIGA,  we suggest  you set the 
  49.    /Utilities Prefix (/UP) to df0:  . This will allow you to 
  50.    swap disks and load example files from the Examples  Disk 
  51.    using the single disk drive.  Another helpful  hint is to 
  52.    enter /Load Logistix  (/LL) and then replace  the Program 
  53.    Disk with the disk containing  the data to be loaded  (ie 
  54.    the Examples  Disk).   When the data has been read in, be 
  55.    sure  to replace  the Program  Disk in the drive.

  57. -  The current  version  of the User Documentation  includes 
  58.    references  to the  HOME  and  END  keys  which  are  not 
  59.    available  on the AMIGA keyboard.  We suggest you use the 
  60.    Goto option (=) and address the cell directly (eg =a1 for 
  61.    HOME).   The  worksheet  limits  are shown  in /Utilities 
  62.    Status  (/US).  Another  method is to assign the HOME and 
  63.    END keys to one of the function  keys 5,6,7 or 8 by using 
  64.    the /Auto facility, such us:

  68.    where  {F8}  is function  key 8 and  {RET}  is the return 
  69.    key).

  71. -  When using a 512K AMIGA system, we recommend that you run 
  72.    LOGiSTiX from the CLI instead of from the WorkBench. This 
  73.    will allow  you to use an extra 30K bytes  of memory  for 
  74.    your worksheet models, which will be particularly  useful 
  75.    when  drawing  graphs.   To do this  place  the  LOGiSTiX 
  76.    Program  Disk in the main floppy disk drive and press the 
  77.    CTRL-A-A  keys at the same time.   (The AMIGA  A keys are 
  78.    located  at either  side of the space bar and are labeled 
  79.    with  a red capital  A).  This will load the CLI enabling 
  80.    you to run LOGiSTiX by entering LGX at the 1> prompt.

  82. -  A useful hint:  If you have resized or moved the graphics 
  83.    window,  then this will become  the active  window.   Any 
  84.    keystrokes  entered will be sent to this graphics  window 
  85.    and  will  not  be  "heard"  by  the  worksheet  part  of 
  86.    LOGiSTiX.   To change  this move the mouse  pointer  to a 
  87.    postion  on the  screen  which  is outside  of the  graph 
  88.    window  and click once with the left mouse button.   This 
  89.    will then make LOGiSTiX "listen" to you.

  91. -  LOGiSTiX is most effectively used in a 1M byte or greater 
  92.    memory  AMIGA  system.   This  will allow  use of the non 
  93.    overlayed  version  of LOGiSTiX  (which results in better 
  94.    speed  performance),  and  also  allows  full  use of the 
  95.    AMIGA's multi-tasking capability.
